Professional Reviews
Rolling Stone (p.74) - 3.5 stars out of 5 -- "[T]hey make the murder ballad 'Tom Dula' roar like a lost cousin of 'Powderfinger,' and Young sings 'Wayfarin' Stranger' with a surprisingly vulnerable high-lonesome twang."

Entertainment Weekly (p.82) - "Not only does it reconvene Young's proto-grunge backing band Crazy Horse for the first time since 1996, but it also consists of reworkings of Dust Bowl-era folk tunes." -- Grade: A-

Q (Magazine) (p.113) - 3 stars out of 5 -- "Overheard studio chatter and Bad Seeds-style backing hollers enhance the raucous chain-gang camaraderie..."

Uncut (magazine) (p.63) - "As ever, there's a gnarled appeal to the band's riffing, with high-register harmonies..."
