Synopsis

Middle aged Londoner Sid Abbott works as a sales rep, but spends most of his time exasperated by the antics of his two children, Mike an 18 year old unemployed art student & 16 year old school girl Sally. Sid likes nothing better that booze, birds & sleeping in on Sunday, but thanks to his teenage children & wife Jean trying to motivate him, the generation gap turns into a chasm. Sid James, star of the successful "Carry On" film series, stars in this phenomenally popular 70's theme sitcom. Running for 6 years, Bless This House also spawned a feature film version. Series One, Part One features the first 6 rarely seen black & white episodes of Bless This House, complete & uncut including original broadcast ad caps. THE GENERATION GAP Sid is concerned when learning his son is going out with a male ballet dancer & his daughter is on the pill. (Written by Vince Powell & Harry Driver) MUM'S THE WORD When Jean has some medical tests, Sid is under the impression he's to be a daddy again. (Written by Carla Lane & Myra Taylor) FATHER'S DAY Jean tries to organise a surprise present for Sid, however he suspects she is having an affair with their Doctor. (Written by Vince Powell & Harry Driver) BE IT EVER SO HUMBLE Trouble brews for Sid when Mike moves out, quickly followed by Jean & Sally. (Written by Carla Lane & Myra Taylor) ANOTHER FINE MESS Sid's boss asks him to mind his wife's coat, but Jean thinks it's her birthday present from Sid. FOR WHOM THE BELLS TOLL Mike's been seeing the same girl for a week leading Sid to believe he's planning a wedding. (Written by Vince Powell & Harry Driver)
