Walter Edgar is emeritus professor of history at the University of South Carolina in Columbia and the author or editor of more than a dozen books about the Palmetto State, including The South Carolina Encyclopedia. He is the host of Walter Edgar's Journal and South Carolina from A to Z on SCETV Radio. In 2008 he was inducted into the South Carolina Hall of Fame.
