About the Author

Marc Jason Gilbert is the NEH Endowed Chair of World History at Hawai'i Pacific University. A founding member and past President of the World History Association, he has published widely on the confluence of world, South Asian and Southeast Asian history. He is a co-author of Cross- Cultural Encounters in Modern World HIstory and World Civilizations: The Global Experience.
