"It is hard to think of anybody better equipped to write on the United Nations. David Hannay has seen the organisation from the inside and as a would-be reformer. He brings the subject to life not only by drawing on his own experience but also through his sharp wit and cool analysis" - Lawrence Freedman, King's College London "A frank and full memoir....Lord Hannay has no illusions about the UN, but equally no doubt about its indispensability. He is explicit about its failings, but his blunt criticisms are always tempered by understanding and constructive proposals, and occasionally salted by a certain black humour" Professor Michael Howard"
