About the Author

Charles Hopkinson is a farmer living in Herefordshire who writes and lectures on various aspects of history. Martin Speight read History at University College London, where he gained his Ph.D. in 1969. He taught at Ludlow Grammar School and its successor, Ludlow College, retiring as Head of History in 1997. A founder of the Ludlow Historical Research Group, he has published a number of short books and articles.
