About the Author

John Sutherland is Emeritus Lord Northcliffe Professor of Modern English Literature at University College London. Author, critic, chair of the Booker Prize judges, newspaper columnist: John Sutherland is one of the leading literary scholars of his day. He is the author of the tremendously successful series on puzzles in Victorian Fiction, beginning with "Is Heathcliff a Murderer?"
