Born to bake. Happy to help.
Harriet Whitehorn grew up in London where she still lives with her
husband and three daughters. She studied at Reading University and
the Architectural Association and has always worked in building
conservation. She currently works for English Heritage. Harriet's
first novel, Violet and the Pearl of the Orient, was published by
Simon and Schuster and shortlisted for the Waterstone's Children's
Books Prize 2015. There are now four books in the Violet series
and Harriet is currently writing a series for older readers for
Stripes publishers. Alex G Griffiths is an illustrator specialising
in children's picture books and character design. The majority of
his work is
done by hand, using a combination of pen and ink line work and
brush textures in a messy way to create a natural style of
illustration. Alex's debut picture book, The Bug Collector, was
published in 2019 by Andersen Press.
Like Freddie's cake baking, there's plenty to spice up Harriet Whitehorn's story of cooking, community and camaraderie
