This celestial children's book tells the story of a greedy king who
steals all the stars from the night sky--and the brave princess who
sets out to put them back. It's a stargazing primer for young
readers that riffs on the Greek mythology behind some of the
constellations. The subject isn't a stretch for Jackson, who
studied physics at the University of Houston before earning her
Master of Science degree in teaching at Rice and has long dreamed
of becoming an astronaut. She's also the founder and director of
Starry Sky Austin, where she teaches hands-on astronomy classes to
students of all ages.--Rice Magazine
Throughout time, the many cultures of the world have all pondered
the multitude of stars that make up the constellations and explain
the heavens in the night sky. Deftly written by Amy Jackson and
beautifully illustrated by Donna Paredes, Cassandra and the Night
Sky tells the picture book story of a nine-year-old princess, a
royal tea party and the magic and mythology that lends its voice to
the explanation of the legends of the starry night sky. Informative
and entertaining, Cassandra and The Night Sky is especially
recommended for children ages 5 to 12 and will prove to be an
enduringly popular addition to family, elementary school, and
community library picture book collections for young
readers.--Midwest Book Review
