After earning seven Grammy Award nominations at the 56th Annual Grammy Awards with their million-selling 2012 debut, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis finally return with their sophomore LP, This Unruly Mess I've Made. The album was previewed by the big and bold pop number "Downtown" plus the elaborate and politically charged "White Privilege II," and while those two numbers are quite different in theme and attitude, they both point to an album that will likely be big and ambitious. Leon Bridges, Kool Moe Dee, and Ed Sheeran top this one's diverse guest list. ~ David Jeffries
Professional Reviews
Rolling Stone - "He's at his best balancing introspection and teacherly realism, as on 'Growing Up (Sloane's Song),' a moving letter to his daughter..."
Spin - "Ryan Lewis' Wonder Bread extravagances have thickened into sourdough, with the all-time-realest DJ Premier and KRS-One assisting the distant, unending squall of 'Buckshot' and Lewis holding his own through the horn blats and blocky staccato keys of 'Brad Pitt's Cousin.'"
NME (Magazine) - "It's equal parts witty and serious, poppy and knotty, cracking wise one minute, then demanding you sit quietly and listen carefully through some complicated soul-searching."
