Singer/songwriter Vonda Shepard fell into a gold mine as popular TV sitcom ALLY MCBEAL's resident saloon singer, providing reworked versions of classic pop hits. Smart enough to hang onto a working formula, Shepard sates the appetites of fans (both hers and the show's) with NEW SONGS FROM ALLY MCBEAL. For those who favor Shepard's pop/soul-tinged covers of well-known songs, there are plenty of those, from Roy Orbison's anthem of loneliness "Crying" to '70s folk king Don McLean's ode to Van Gogh, "Vincent." Shepard's clearly more than just a walking jukebox, though, and some of her own compositions are featured here as well, including a duet with Indigo Girl Emily Saliers on "Baby, Don't You Break My Heart Slow."
