Bryant has always had a wide repertoire but he sounds most at home when playing the blues. This trio date with bassist Sam Jones and drummer Grady Tate allows him to do just that with "Please Send Me Someone to Love" being the only nonblues on the program. Whether it be "All Blues," "Billie's Bounce" or "Jumpin' with Symphony Sid," Bryant explores an impressive variety of blues styles and grooves, leaving listeners with a happy feeling. ~ Scott Yanow
