Released a year before her breakthrough album FMA, the Memo EP introduced Grace's soulful pop. Her cover of Lesley Gore's "You Don't Own Me," which features a cameo by rapper G-Eazy, exemplifies her blend of classic pop, hip-hop and R&B. Elsewhere, she cultivates a funky vibe on "Dirty Harry," which sounds like Amy Winehouse gone trip-hop; "Feel Your Love" boasts a gorgeously silky melody, and the demo of "Boyfriend Jeans" that closes the EP shows off her way with words ("I was your B and you were my Jay-Z"). All in all, Memo proves that FMA's success wasn't a fluke. ~ Heather Phares
