About the Author

The Author: Seymour W. Itzkoff was trained in music, the philosophy of science, and educational theory. He is the author of eleven books in various disciplines, including his much-praised four-volume series on the evolution of human intelligence, now to be also published in Spanish by Julio Yanez, Barcelona, Spain. Professor Itzkoff, who teaches at Smith College, is General Editor of a new series of books on human evolution and behavior, to be published by Peter Lang. His current research interests are focused on the relationship of Homo sapiens' unique biological heritage as now expressed in our social and cultural behavior and institutions. Itzkoff hopes to show that by attending to humanity's biological nature, we may be able to build a more egalitarian and just international order that will permanently fulfill Homo's civilizational potential.

Reviews

This is an interesting and important book which attempts very successfully to apply the lessons of modern research into intelligence to the social and political problems facing humanity all over the world. The author is at home in anthropology as well as in psychology, and sets his net widely, tracing historical developments over millions of years and interlacing the resulting racial differences with modern research outcomes. ... Public and informed discussion on such issues has been almost completely exorcized in recent years; this book marks a welcome return to reality. (H.J. Eysenck, Person. individ. Diff.)
