Seymour W. Itzkoff is Professor of Education at Smith College, Northampton, MA. He is the author of numerous books including The Decline of Intelligence in America, A Strategy for National Renewal (1994).
"Itzkoff has written not only an excellent study of Cassirer's
inquiry into the meaning of this symbolic view of scientific
knowledge, but also a provocative book that will reward the
attention of anyone who has a serious interest in contemporary
history of philosophy and philosophy of science." —Philosophy of
Science
"Cassirer's neo-Kantianism may yet provide a fresh approach to the
problems of contemporary philosophy of science, and Professor
Itzkoff's work may well be a first step toward that end." —Journal
of the History of Philosophy
